Digging In

Announcing the Series A financing of Paydirt Games, Inc.

We’re expanding: Prepare thyself (for soft launch).

So … here we are … 13months ago we seeded the Company, gathered the team, set the mission and charged off into a hectic cycle of design and development. That took us to late October 2024 when we ran a Focus Group Test in-person, each brave participant surrendering to a 4-5hour session of gameplay divided into diverse sessions testing Tournament play, free range Prospecting, PvP concepts and (naturally) all the base game systems & loops. Huge thanks to all participants for their candid feedback and suggestions (many of which have been developed since!) … the positive data gathered (90%+ participants spent money to play!!!) gave us all a great confidence boost that we are blazing the right trail. Again, with the right idea, great people and enough gas in the tank to go the distance you can change any Industry. That’s what we’re aiming to do: Change an Industry. Not for the sake of it, but because change is needed (particularly in the context of something like 20,000 new game titles launching on STEAM only to account for 12% of combined online game time ... too much free or freemium Content using the same old business model. Let’s shake things up!

Every wonder why you’re bored of playing games you grew up playing? Well, you just answered the question: You grew up (and that’s OK). As we get older, our tastes change, the palate becomes more sophisticated. You look for different things. At Paydirt Games we’re committed to innovation in the business model of videogaming in contexts where it makes sense.

More serious forms of videogaming as entertainment, designed to be enjoyed by a customer demographic of videogamers where the average is 42years (right?). Paydirt Games mission is to create compelling entertainment experiences with a specific purpose: Appeal to those who have ‘aged out’ of typical videogame genres. Those seeking something new, different, serious, FUN and visceral to warrant the time investment to play (time is our ultimate resource, particularly as we age, right?).

After a fun time at DICE Las Vegas earlier this month, the next company pit stop is GDC Game Developers Conference in San Francisco in ~3weeks’ time. Let’s find out the good, bad & ugly of 2025’s State of the (videogames) Industry. See you there!

Start the Dig

Announcing the startup & seed financing of Paydirt Games, Inc.

We’re on the move: Strap in.

So we have money, core team and a clear direction of travel (oh, and a first playable demonstrating key gameplay systems). Huge thanks to all of our fledgling Company’s supporters and early investors. With the right idea, great people and enough gas in the tank to go the distance you can change any Industry. That’s what we’re aiming to do: Change an Industry. Not for the sake of it, but because change is needed.

Let’s see how we get on. First company pit stop is GDC Game Developers Conference in San Francisco in ~4weeks’ time. We’ll be there, looking for contacts, recruits and to start Industry networking (and learning). By then we should have the first playable in the palm of our hands. What better audience to take the pulse of? Let’s find out the good, bad & ugly of 2024’s State of the (videogames) Industry. See you there!
